Private equity firm Hg and AI company Anthropic are backing a new company designed to help European businesses adopt artificial intelligence, under an agreement announced on 3 November.
Hg said it had agreed to invest in the new AI transformation company, with participation from Anthropic and angel investors. The company will formally launch later this year as an independent entity.
It will build on Claude, Anthropic’s AI model, and use forward-deployed engineers working inside client businesses, Hg said. The aim is to move companies beyond pilot projects toward measurable operational impact and AI-native products.
What is known — and what is not
The announcement gives no company name, no investment amount, no valuation and no founding team. Those details have not been disclosed, and this article does not guess them.
Hg, which manages more than $110 billion in assets, said it currently holds no equity stake in Anthropic. The two companies have been collaborating since 2024.
Reports citing the Financial Times have said the venture is expected to have hubs in London and Berlin. That detail comes from reporting, not from Hg’s announcement, and should be presented as reported, not as company-confirmed.
HgCapital Trust said it would invest in the venture both directly and through the Hg Saturn Fund.

Why Europe is the focus
Hg said the company is built for Europe’s unusually complex landscape of languages and regulatory regimes, and for businesses with distinctive intellectual property, deep domain expertise and long-standing customer relationships.
In practice, that means the venture is aimed less at selling a single AI tool and more at embedding engineers with firms that want to rebuild products and workflows around AI, rather than simply testing it.
Part of a wider services shift

The venture fits a wider shift in which AI model companies are moving into services. Anthropic announced in May 2026 that it was forming an enterprise AI services company with Blackstone, Hellman & Friedman and Goldman Sachs, later introduced in July as Ode with Anthropic.
That earlier venture is separate from the Hg-backed company. The comparison matters because it shows Anthropic is pursuing services through more than one route, rather than relying only on selling model access.
What to watch next
The next confirmed milestones are simple: a company name, a formal launch later in 2026, and any disclosure of funding size, leadership or first customers. Until then, the venture should be described as announced and pre-launch, not as an operating business with proven results.
