Anthropic’s Seven Co-Founders Could Each Be Worth $29 Billion in a $2 Trillion IPO

Anthropic’s seven co-founders could each be worth between $27 billion and $29 billion if the artificial intelligence company goes public at a valuation of $2 trillion, according to estimates based on its IPO filing. The figures are estimates, not confirmed IPO values: Anthropic has not set an offering price, and the final outcome will depend on the share price and total share count at listing.

Anthropic, the maker of the Claude AI assistant, filed paperwork for an initial public offering with the US Securities and Exchange Commission on Monday, October 26, 2026. The filing gives investors their first detailed look at how much of the company its founders own.

What the filing shows

Each of the seven co-founders holds roughly 240 million shares, according to the filing’s beneficial-ownership table dated September 30, 2026. Together, the seven hold about 1.69 billion shares, or roughly 10% of the company. The individual holdings range from about 232 million shares for chief architect Sam McCandlish to about 244 million for chief compute officer Tom Brown.

At $58.90 per share — the split-adjusted price investors paid in Anthropic’s most recent private funding round — each stake would be worth between $13.7 billion and $14.4 billion. That price comes from the company’s Series H round, after a 10-for-1 stock split on September 17, 2026.

If Anthropic lists at the roughly $2 trillion valuation that Wall Street estimates have pointed to, each stake would roughly double to between $27 billion and $29 billion. At a lower $1.5 trillion valuation, the stakes would be worth roughly $21 billion to $24 billion each.

Who the seven co-founders are

The seven are chief executive Dario Amodei; his sister Daniela Amodei, the company’s president and board chair; Tom Brown, chief compute officer; Jared Kaplan, chief science officer; Sam McCandlish, chief architect; Chris Olah, who leads interpretability research; and Jack Clark, who leads the Anthropic Institute. All seven left OpenAI to found Anthropic in January 2021, and all seven are listed as selling stockholders in the offering — although the filing leaves blank how many shares each plans to sell.

One notable omission: Benjamin Mann, who has worked at Anthropic since its founding and is often described as a co-founder, is excluded from the filing’s references to co-founders. He is not a member of the founders’ limited liability company, and his stake is not disclosed in the ownership table, so he should not be counted as an eighth holder of a $29 billion stake.

Why the numbers matter — and what they do not prove

The near-equal stakes are unusual for a founding group of this size, and they underline how much of Anthropic’s value remains concentrated in its founders even as the company prepares to list on the Nasdaq under the ticker “ANT.” AI-linked stocks rose on Monday following the filing news, with Nvidia up nearly 3% and Microsoft and Amazon each gaining nearly 1%, according to market coverage of the filing.

But the $29 billion figure is a scenario, not a payday. It assumes a $2 trillion listing valuation that Anthropic itself has not announced, and recent private-market estimates have also pointed to $1.5 trillion. The co-founders’ stakes could also change before listing, and the filing does not say how much stock, if any, each founder will actually sell.

What happens next

Investors will watch for the offering’s price range, the number of shares to be sold, and the listing date — none of which the initial filing sets. Until then, the $27–29 billion figure should be read for what it is: an illustration of what the founders’ disclosed shareholdings would be worth if Anthropic reaches the top end of Wall Street’s valuation estimates.

Frequently asked questions

How much is each Anthropic co-founder worth now? At the last private-round price of $58.90 per share, each co-founder’s stake is worth roughly $13.7 billion to $14.4 billion.

How could each stake reach $29 billion? If Anthropic lists at a $2 trillion valuation, the value of each roughly 240-million-share stake would roughly double to between $27 billion and $29 billion.

Has Anthropic confirmed a $2 trillion IPO valuation? No. The $2 trillion figure comes from Wall Street estimates reported in coverage of the filing; Anthropic has not set an IPO price.
